Day 28 & 29

**this blog turned out to be the "food" blog, for all you food lovers out there! Seattle is a good place to eat!**

From Yellowstone, we left early in the morning (5:30ish) and started our 14 hour drive to Seattle, Washington. The drive went very well, and we were able to finish the 3rd book from the series we got hooked in. We have now read about 1500 pages aloud over this trip! We had one stop that is worth mentioning because it was a really cool town. Missoula, Montana has a artsy-feel to it. We ate at a funky little taco place downtown, then went to Starbucks—while a group of guys played a guitar, mandolin, and stand-up bass (it was pleasant to listen to). So if any of you are doing a road trip, Missoula is a cool place to stop.

We arrived in Seattle around 7:30ish. Our friend Brian, and his fiancé, Karelisa, took us out to eat some nice "ethnic" food. We tried (unsuccessfully) two places before ending up at an Ethiopian place (the other places were either shut down or not open for business yet!). We had awesome service, by Zeke and his family. The atmosphere was great—Donna had a random world-globe next to her seat, there were interesting wall hangings, and in the background, Ethiopian music videos and some home videos played on the TV (Brian and Karelisa have been there before and put in a special request for the videos). The music videos had people dancing with rifles (weird). The most odd poster in the place was of one with two kittens playing on a wicker chair and in the same picture there was a baby in a chair in the background laughing. It looked like a bad photoshop job. We had to get a picture of it, so we sent Corey over there to capture it, but Zeke was watching us all and Corey din't feel he ought to take a picture of kittens and a baby while Zeke was watching. It was great food and great service there. The picture below is the dish that we shared. The torn piece of bread in the lower right corner is used to pick up the food. It is fun finger food.

Brian let us crash at his place near the University, which was awesome. (thanks Brian for putting us up at the last minute! you're super great)

—Thursday—

In the morning we set out to fulfill the recommendations by Brian. We first went to Mighty-O Donuts and had ourselves some awesome organic donuts (you didn't know there were such things, did you?). Donna had a chocolate-peanut butter one and Corey had one called french toast. (they were organically natural and fattening! yay!)

Our next stop was across the street where we were told to get a Cozy Latte. Wow, was it good (and pretty, as shown below). It is a latte with orange and hazelnut flavor. Yum! Just what we needed to get us going in the late morning.

Off to University of Washington we went. We received a tour and information on the Architecture department and UW. Below is a picture of one of the architecture buildings.

This is another beautiful campus. Corey loved taking photos of the place.

Having worked up an appetite, we went to a Vietnamese restaurant (also recommended by Brian, thanks!). It was called Than Brothers. There were three Vietnamese restaurants in the same small area and we remembered which one was the best because it was better "Than" the others. We had their specialty (also the only thing the serve!) called Pho— a rice noodle soup. Yum!

We walked around a bit down on crowded Pike street. We didn't take many pictures or feel the need to, since two years ago we spent time up here and took LOTS of photos. We do love the area. Below is the one picture we took. It was too random to pass up. It is a seating contraption that accommodates two people. Interesting.

We met up with Brian and Karelisa for dinner and dessert. Brian had a root canal today (no fun!) and he still ate like a champ at dinner. The picture below is one of the SEVERAL that Corey was taking when Brian was talking about how the root canal went.

Our dessert was yummy gelato. It was goooooood. Corey had Orange-Chocolate and Raspberry and Donna had Pear and Grapefruit. Delicious!

As I am typing this, Corey and Brian are working on trapping a mouse that ran across the room as I started the blog. They both have on their "third eye" devices and shoes ready to find the little thing. Unfortunately the little bugger ran away. Brian thought we could just place a Mighty-O donut out to lure and entice... but we decided just to go to bed and pretend we didn't see what we just saw.

Seattle has been great, we love it here! Next stop, Vancouver, BC!
